If you didn’t play the level of golf you wanted to this year, perhaps it’s time to seek some help?
Let me explain EXACTLY how an online lesson program with me works & how it could possibly benefit you over the next few months
So let’s assume this year didn’t go as planned with your golf. You are now thinking “how can I improve so that next year, I can play the best golf of my life”
Let’s say you signed up to an UNLIMITED coaching program. Here’s exactly how it would look from the very first lesson & into the following months
Firstly, why online coaching vs in person coaching?
This isn’t about why one is superior to the other. In fact, I think some people SHOULD NOT be doing online coaching. I also think some people would benefit more from online vs in person.
If you are a busy person, you live a fairly busy life, you have a wife, kids, & you struggle to find a bit of time to drive to the golf course, have a 60 min lesson and then drive home, maybe online is better for you where you can take a lesson when it suits YOU, not the coach
Maybe you are someone who takes a lesson from a coach in person & a few days after the lesson you want to make sure you are doing the drills correctly…
All you want to do is send a video to the coach and ask them if you are doing it properly so that you don’t spend the next month working on the wrong movement…
Unfortunately, in most cases you need to book in another time with that coach. That could be 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks away. By then, you have no idea what you should be doing, you’ve lost the feel, you’re doing the drill wrong and not improving.
Lesson wasted.
So how can this be improved if you joined (my) unlimited coaching program? Let me share the process with you.
Once you sign up, before we do anything, I want to jump on a zoom call with you. I want to meet you, talk to you about your goals, your previous coaching experience, how often you practice & play, the facilities you have access to, etc.
From that conversation, we both get a good feel for each other, I get a better understanding about your past, what’s worked, what hasn’t, what you like in a coach, what you don’t like, etc.
Following the zoom call, I want you to send me 4 videos plus some information such as face contact, ground contact, ball flight, etc
2 x 7 iron swings (Face on & down the line)
2 x Driver swings (Face on & down the line)
These 4 swings will give me a good idea as to how you setup, how you move, what differences you have in your swing with a mid-iron vs a driver
I honestly don’t need to see too many balls being hit with these clubs. I can play the video back as many times as I want and believe me, I can tell what your miss hits are and the shape you hit the ball without too many swings.
Especially since I have your comments as well
Once those swings are in my lesson inbox, I will send you a detailed analysis where I will be talking and drawing the necessary lines, circles, animations etc so you can see exactly what I’m talking about.
I may even compare certain things that you do with a tour player. This is not to be mistaken with me trying to make you swing like anyone. It’s to show you proof that X player does this vs you do this & this is why I think it’s advantageous for you to add/subtract X from your swing
Once that analysis has been complete, I will record a personalised video for you & you only, of me explaining and demonstrating the drills & movements I would like you to do
This is NOT going to be a pre-recorded video from YouTube. This is 100% personalised in real time.
You will now have a full analysis & a personalised video in your lesson inbox that you can watch anytime, anywhere, forever. You never lose the lesson.
At the end of that personalised video, I will have instructed you to do the drills I have asked in a certain way. I will also have asked for a video back from you showing me the drill I have asked you to do
There will be times I was a video back from you where you are not swinging a club, but rather making a movement with your body showing me you can perform the movement.
Once you have shown me that & we are happy, you can then do the same drill with a club in hand & see if you can replicate the same movement
These are the videos that you can’t send to your in-person coach 99% of the time.
How long should you be working on the drills prescribed before sending a video back for review?
There is no set time I prescribe. Some players will work on the drill for 3 days before sending a video, some will send a video back in the next hour to make sure they are doing the drill correctly before spending hours/days on it.
All I ask is that you do your best on your own and always know that you can message me at any time and/or send a video in for me to review.
Once the drill has been performed to a standard we both agree is better than the original move, we will then proceed to hit balls, speed up the swing and work on making this change while hitting balls
This is always where things become more difficult because we now have to take into account club face, path, ground strike, low point, ball flight, etc.
Again, this is the time where you would video these swings and send them in for review
We would then repeat the first session and I would analyse the movement, provide feedback on the movements & drill prescribed & help you make it better every session
This analysis may not be as long or as in depth as the first, purely because we should still be working on the movement we wanted to change in the first lesson/review
It is now about sending videos in to check the drills are being done correctly and that we are not reverting back to old habits OR that we aren’t going too far in the other direction where it may become detrimental
Of course, during this time we can work on other areas of the game such as short game, putting, etc.
During the initial zoom call and during our lessons & reviews, I will also be educating you on better practice habits & strategies, so you aren’t hitting balls with no structure
So, to summarise the online lesson experience, here’s why I think it’s so good for a lot of golfers
- You can send swings from your house if you have the setup
- You can send in your lesson when it suits YOU
- You get a response time of 24-36hrs (my response time)
- Unlimited coaching allows for 24-7 communicationÂ
- Constant check ins to ensure you are improving
So, what are you waiting for? Is online coaching something that might suit you?Â
If it is, here’s how you can get involved.
My inbox is always open for golfers who are interested in getting better. Email me now at [email protected]
While I discussed an unlimited coaching program in this thread, I do have other coaching options if you aren’t looking for that much hands on coaching.
I have single lesson options, 2 lesson a month options, & even my online academy where you can learn from a library of pre-recorded videos designed to help all levels of golfer
If you’d like more information, please feel free to contact me & I would be more than happy to have a chat to find a program that best suits your need
I look forward to talking with you.
